Some beauty tips 🧖🏻‍♀️

Let’s be honest: being a little beauty-obsessed often goes hand in hand with… well, a whole lot of waste. You end up tossing tons of stuff in the trash without even realizing it.

Between your makeup wipes (the ones you bring to your bestie’s place for your monthly pajama night), the packaging from the blush you just repurchased (even though you literally just threw out the old one — yes, refills do exist), or your extra-soft toothbrush for your “sensitive gums” (just brush more gently, don’t overdo it).

But don’t panic! Your girls are here to give you some eco-friendly tips — without turning you into a full-on hippie.

If you’re a DIY girly, try sewing your own reusable makeup pads with — you know — that white towel that ended up pink because it danced in the washing machine with your red T-shirt. Yep, we’ve all been there. So cut it up and make yourself a whole army of cleansing pads!

If you’re a normal person (unlike Océ and Gab, who survive on Red Bull), you probably drink coffee. So reuse the coffee grounds from your Nespresso pods or your grandma’s ancient filter machine, and make yourself a homemade scrub with a tiny drop of oil so you don’t shred your skin.

If you’re a part-time makeup artist, use coconut oil to melt away your masterpiece — even the most waterproof mascara will surrender eventually.

If you’re budget-conscious, switch to solid soaps, shampoos, toothpastes and detergents. By the end of the year, your wallet will thank you: you’re no longer paying for the diluent (a.k.a. water — which, last time we checked, still comes out of your tap for free).

And if you want to go even further, think about:

  • swapping your spray deodorant for a solid or balm deodorant;
  • switching to reusable period products (cups, period panties, washable pads — comfort + zero waste!) ;
  • buying your products in bulk or opting for refills to skip the useless plastic packaging;
  • trying white vinegar + baking soda for cleaning, so you stay eco-friendly right down to the bathroom tiles.

As for brands, you can check out:

  • Ecolast for reusable cotton swabs;
  • 900 Care for refillable shower gels and bath products;
  • and if you’re in Reims, drop by Symbiose, a shop full of eco-friendly beauty goodies!
